Broken Bag Detectors

Bag leak checkerBroken Bag Detectors are designed to provide a safe and reliable means of detecting leaks and failures in industries that specialize in handling powder and bulk solids. The bag leak detectors are used in a large variety of applications which require detection of dust particles as part of maintenance or environmental requirements. The detection of leaks in a bag house's filters can be critical to a plants operations.  The critical nature can be derived based on many factors such as baghouse maintenance, safety, loss of an expensive product, to EPA reporting issues.

Leak detectors are designed specifically to measure a phenomenon known as the Triboelectric effect. The Triboelectric effect occurs when a particle passes the leak detector probe. The passing particle induces a charge on the probe which is quantified and measured in pico amps. The data from the broken bag detector can be used to turn on an output alarm or the data can be stored for maintenance or EPA reporting requirements. Most Broken Bag Detectors are equipped with a colored LED screen that allows the operator to easily see the condition of the process. The screens are used to set up the operating range  of the leak detectors and see when an alarm condition is present. With aid from the LED, users can set up an early warning reference point to signal an early alarm warning. Most broken bag detectors have a dual alarm feature. The second alarm can be used as a critical alarm or shut down alarm. In summary, it can be agreed that Broken Bag Detectors are essential components in an industrial setting that uses baghouses and dust collectors in the handling of dry dust and bulk solids. Advancements in the technology has come a long way in recent years. Bag leak detectors can measure the smallest particles of dust on one extreme and measure flow, no flow conditions in a pipe on the other extreme.
